Dr. Jonathan Kanevsky graduated with top honors from McGill University Faculty of Medicine and is now a resident in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The McGill University Health Center. As a surgeon-entrepreneur his research interests include scar therapy, medical devices and big data in medicine. In 2009, he was awarded The Charles E Frosst Medical Prize for research in scar therapy and wound healing. That research led to the development of a new method and device to decrease scar formation. The technology was licensed to Menodys Inc. in 2014, he shifted his focus from medical hardware to software. When Jonathan isn’t in surgery, he’s working to see how medical data can be combined with AI to help save lives and how AR and VR can improve patient outcomes. His innovative flame was sparked by his father, an innovator/mathematician and proud Googler. A native New Yorker, Jonathan is drawn to Montreal for the trifecta: A lively city, great education, and hub for innovation. Outside of the hospital he is active in humanitarian work as founding member of the Saint Mary’s Young professional group and co-founder of “Rally 4 The Kids” a charity organization that raises awareness about craniofacial diseases for the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
